With the construction of the new campus Student Center, space was needed for the displaced campus barber shop which provides several hundred haircuts per week to students, faculty and staff. In order to ease the crowding caused by cramped space, insufficient barber chairs and a lack of waiting space, the new facility concentrated on providing a smooth flow of clients as well as an enlarged waiting area. Increased barber space and a separate office space were also provided.

The design incorporates traditional barber shop features such as large mirrors, checkered flooring, stylist chairs and the familiar barber’s pole. Wood casework and cabinetry add an overall feeling of warmth and comfort to the space.
