Press Release July 2001 Project News Millers Run School Construction of the Miller's Run School project was completed this spring. EHD attended the ribbon cutting ceremony on June 10th with members of the School Board, the State Legislature including Lt. Gov. Doug Racine and members of the communities of Wheelock and Sheffield. EHD presented the school with an official Vermont State Flag originally flown over the State House in Montpelier. Thetford Elementary School EHD was awarded the contract for Phase I architectural for the Thetford Elementary School. The school, originally built and added to over the years, is no longer able to accommodate the growing enrollment. EHD will design the improvements including enlarging the existing cafeteria and kitchen, remodeling the administrative areas and adding a multipurpose/community room and library. Overall, the 28,000 square foot building will increase in size by about 8,000 square feet. The design is expected to be presented for bond vote in the fall. Franconia Community Church of Christ Working with the Franconia Childrens Center, the Franconia CCC is undertaking the design of a new 6,700 square foot addition to house the Childrens Center. EH Danson was retained to provide architectural services for the new addition. The preliminary design will be presented to the congregation for approval in August. AOT Maintenance Facility A groundbreaking ceremony was held in Londonderry, Vermont on July 13th at the construction site. The original building was destroyed by fire on February 6th of this year and will be replaced by a new 5 bay garage/maintenance building, two salt/sand sheds and a storage shed. Working with the AOT and the State Department of Buildings and General Services, EHD provided design services for the prototype structures. Construction is expected to be completed by December 1. IROC The Board of Directors for Indoor Recreation of Orleans County (IROC) announced the start of construction for the 45,000 square foot recreational facility. The work in this phase will include the fabrication and erection of the 35 tall metal building. The pre-engineered metal building will utilize a well-coordinated 4-color scheme in the metal siding. Previous phases of construction have included the sitework (recently completed by the National Guard) and the construction of the foundation. EHD has been working with the IROC Board since 1998 and has provided services for the design of the foundation, metal building enclosure and sitework. Back to News |
