Millers Run School
Sheffield, Vermont

Years of growing enrollments, the use of modular classrooms and state funding moratoriums forced the UD #37 Millers Run School into a crisis mode to either renovate and add or fund a new school for their students. After considerable public debate, the voters of the towns of Sheffield and Wheelock voted to fund renovations to their 8,500 SF facility and a 20,000 SF addition.

The new school is equipped with state of the art technology equipment and provides the students and staff with high indoor air quality above national standards. The building contains a new computer lab, library, science lab, multipurpose gym/ cafeteria, commercial kitchen, classrooms and administrative areas. One notable feature is the two story open cupola at the center of the addition. The natural light and spatial experience provided by this architectural feature gives the students a point of orientation in the long corridor which is particularly important to the younger students.
