Barre Town Garage Barre, Vermont After several years of working in less than ideal conditions, the
Town of Barre Public Works department determined to provide new and
improved maintenance facilities for the Town. Because of the condition
of the existing 40-year-old building, the best approach was to purchase
a nearby granite manufacturing facility and convert it to meet the need.
The existing granite fabrication area was completely renovated to include
two new overhead doors, two mechanics’ pits, a new parts area,
new tool storage and upgraded washrooms. The office area finishes were
replaced and exterior sitework improved circulation and optimized operations.
The original 40-year-old facility received a new electric service, new
wiring and new lighting as well as a break room, locker room and shower
facilities for the crews.
