Barton Municipal Offices The Municipal Offices serving both Barton and Orleans were crowded into a small second story space in downtown Barton. Lacking proper records keeping facilities, handicap access, parking and meeting space, the Town authorized the purchase and requisition of the former Barton Hardware building on Route 5. Garage and loading dock additions were removed, as was the front entrance. The garage was replaced with parking space and the loading dock was replaced by a 400 square foot fireproof Records Vault. The front entrance was replaced with a ramp for access and an inviting residential scale entry porch. Open office space was provided for the clerk and treasurer complete with kitchenette, storage and filing areas. An open transaction counter was provided for service. Provisions were also made for Listers and the Planning and Zoning Boards as well as a large conference area for meetings with the Select Board. Back to Projects  |
